Special Master/Arbitration

Not all family law matters need court intervention to resolve disputes, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings are available through the attorneys at Heckenbach Thompson Suazo & Dave, LLP. Our experienced attorneys are available for appointments as special masters or arbitrators to assist parties in reaching resolutions outside of a court proceeding.

The appointment of a special master provides a means by which parties can present disputes to a neutral decision-maker rather than in a court proceeding. A special master appointment may be appropriate where parties desire privacy, have unique or complex issues that may require specialized knowledge or understanding, or where decisions must occur in a specified timeframe.

Arbitration is an alternative to court litigation, but it is nevertheless an adversarial proceeding. Parties may select an experienced arbitrator and submit disputed issues to the arbitrator for determination. Arbitration affords parties significantly more control over the process and timelines than a court proceeding, and the arbitration proceeding is less formal than litigation.
